Trevelen Farm Winery and Cellar Door

Five Star Rated and Preferred Winery status in the Great Southern Wine Region - James Hallidays 2007 Wine Companion.

Established in 1993 Trevelen Farm is one of the  most northerly wine labels in the Great Southern Wine  Region. Our  Location is  just  off Albany Highway 307 Kms South of Perth ,100 kms from Albany on the south coast of W.A.

Principle varieties produced at Trevelen  Farm are  Riesling ,Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. All of our Varieties have  frequently won Awards , with our Riesling has never failed to win some kind of award for excellence in the Ten vintages we have produced.

Our cellar door complex is on our home vineyard at Trevelen, where visitors can relax in our large country garden which adjoins the cellar door, the garden is open all year round. We are  part of the Australian Open Garden Scheme again in November 2006. Wine tasting is free for current release wines and so is the magnificent view across rolling countryside to the Stirling Ranges to the South East. We have a superb range of specialty cheeses made especially for us ,which partner perfectly the large range of premium wine s available for tasting. Another thing  to do at Trevelen Farm is, in the wildflower season, book a wildflower walk, (please telephone ahead to book), we encourage coach tours and will guide people to the best points in our 300 acre untouched remnant bush block.

Inland Saltwater Trout and freshwater Yabbies are available most times throughout the year ,we have them live in tanks at the cellar and will pack ready for transport for visitors when they leave.

Reviews:

Peter Forrestal: on our 2005 Riesling: “John and Katie Sprigg consistently make very fine Riesling. This is fresh, pristine and vibrant with pure lime flavours and zesty crisp acidity.”

** James Halliday  94/100 points.

Australian Wine Selectors : Karl  Stockhausen: on our  Trevelen Farm 2004 Riesling.
“Trevelen Farm have proven year after year their harmonious relationship with the variety Riesling. I believe this is one of their best. Alluring aromas of citrus blossom and jasmine are substantiated with complex citrus notes. The palate shows an impeccably balanced assortment of mineral and citrus characters that drive the length and beauty of the wine.”

James Halliday  94/100 points.

Our 2004 Cabernet Merlot “This wine has loads of sweet berry fruits. It has a fine but firm structure with concentrated fruit flavours: supple rich and long. It is a most enjoyable red – fresh, flavoursome and with a persistent finish from a meticulous producer.”

Scoop Magazine Tasting Team.

Winestate Magazine on our Frankland Reserve Shiraz 2004. A big ripe and dense wine with an excellent flavour profile  Attractive raspberry cordial nose and long juicy palate. Good tannin structure and spicy finish.

** James Halliday  95/100 points.

With our wine maker James Kellie as an integral part of our wine making team we look forward to many years of producing  exceptional wines from this Region. Exports at present to Japan, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
