Wine Trails in the Great Southern Wine Region

The State-wide Wine Trail Project which is being funded by the Federal government through the whole Western Australian wine industry, is in its early stages of development. This Association is working with the Co-ordinator, Peter Rigby, to make wine travel through out the whole State easier to plan and do.

Travel and stay in the Great Southern Wine RegionThe Stirling Ranges:

Internationally recognised for its diverse vegetation and beautiful wildflowers. The Park covers an area of 115,671Ha and has many climbs from challenging to quite easy but with all giving the visitor great access to natural bushland and stunning views. BBQ facilities are spread throughout the park with accommodation at the eastern end on Chester Pass road as well as at the nearby towns of Cranbrook, Mount Barker and Kendenup.

The Porongurups Ranges:

2401 Ha in area, with a number of 'easy to climb peaks' with spectacular views to the north (The Stirlings) and towards the sea to the south. Home to a number of wineries, there is also a range of accommodation choices available within the area.

Denmark, Walpole and Nornalup area:

In this area are a number of attractions,including the 'Tree Top Walk', 'Valley of the Giants' (Karri and Tingle forests), the beautiful, tranquil Walpole inlet, to name but a few. A large range of accommodation is available in the area.

Albany and surrounds:

A rugged and beautiful coastline featuring the 'Gap' and 'Natural Bridge', 'The Old Whaling Station', 'Emu Point', 'Middleton Beach', 'The Albany Wind Farm' plus many other lovely things to see and experience.

Fitzgerald National Park:

World Heritage listed. Great places to view the endangered Mallee fowl, many rare plants and do some whale watching . Accommodation in the park is in the form of camping in well managed areas. Whilst at nearby 'Bremmer Bay' there is a diverse range of accommodation. Ranger advice freely available within the park.

With a region the size of the Great Southern there are a number of towns in which to base yourself along with many country Bed and Breakfasts and farm stays. We will be providing accommodation alternatives in the near future,however the Visitor centres mentioned on this site are willing to provide prices and advice on the alternatives available in their particular area.
